A native of Carlow, Aideen holds a BMus degree and an MA in Musicology from NUI Maynooth, in addition to a diploma in Journalism and Media Studies from Dublin Business School, where she graduated with Honours and as ‘Student of the Year’ in 2012.
Previously, Aideen held the post of Resource Worker with Music Generation Carlow, where she worked both as member of the operational team and as a musician on the Early Years and Vocal programmes. Her key achievements in the role include directing the Borris Vocational School Music Generation Transition Year (TY) Choir for their 2013 composition project entitled Speranza, which was co-written with the TY students and renowned Irish contemporary composer Linda Buckley. Aideen also led the 2015 Music Generation Carlow collaborative project between Borris Vocational School and Irish composer, Glen Austin.
Aideen’s passion lies in choral music, and in recent years she has been a member of several award-winning choral groups including Carlow Young Artists’ Choir, the NUI Maynooth Chamber Choir, Schola Gregoriana Maynooth, The Academy Chamber Choir in Tullamore (awarded ‘Choir of the Year’ at the Navan Choral Festival 2012) and the Newbridge Gospel Choir.
Aideen acted as music facilitator with The Academy of Music in County Offaly from 2010-2013 where she taught piano, voice and pre-instrumental classes to children and young people. She coordinated weekly music classes for toddlers around the county and worked extensively with special needs groups during her time, as well as acting as Musical Director for various projects involving people with disabilities.
