Music Generation has announced the appointment of writer and broadcaster John Kelly to its Board of Directors.
On announcing the new appointment, Chairperson Leo Blennerhassett commented: ‘John’s significant knowledge and practical experience in the world of Irish arts and culture will undoubtedly be of enormous benefit to Music Generation over the coming years, as the organisation continues to advance its mission to create access to high quality, affordable music tuition for children and young people. I’m very pleased to welcome him to the Board.’
Responding to the announcement, John Kelly said: ‘I’m delighted to take up this new role on the Board of Music Generation, a programme that plays such a key role in nurturing our next generation of young musicians. The programme’s achievements during its first decade have already been extraordinary, creating such a broad pathway for children and young people to access music in a creative, inclusive way. I’m looking forward to working together with my fellow Board members to advance this great movement of change for music education in Ireland.’
A SONY, EMA and PPI award-winner, John Kelly has long been at the forefront of music and arts broadcasting in Ireland, having presented some of the best-loved and most critically-acclaimed music programmes on the airwaves. Among his extensive broadcasting credentials, John currently fronts The Works Presents – a series of interviews with leading figures in the world of arts and culture – as well as Mystery Train on RTÉ Lyric FM.
