Calling all young artists and creative kids! Design a unique logo and be part of the nationwide musical celebration in 2024. Show off your artistic talent and love for music.

Music Generation seeks young artists/graphic designers/illustrators to design a logo for Music Generation’s upcoming national celebration in 2024 called

We are Music Generation!

Join us as we celebrate 13 years of Music Generation through creativity and music-making. In 2024, we’re launching a special nationwide celebration, where children and young people from Music Generation programmes will showcase the incredible impact of music for all ages. Now, we need a unique logo for this Music Generation celebration!

How it works

Every child and young person is an artist! This competition is for you and open to all ages from 18 and under. Individual young artists or groups of young artists are invited to take part.

To enter:

  • Design an awesome logo featuring our celebration title We are Music Generation!
  • Take a photo or scan your fantastic artwork.
  • Take a photo of you with your artwork.
  • Tell us in a short summary (300 words) or a fun 1–2-minute video about what music and Music Generation means to you.

Submit your details, photos and short artist summary in this online submission form.


The logo can be created by hand or via a digital design.

All submissions will be reviewed by an independent judging panel of creative practitioners.

Deadline for Submissions: 12pm (midday) on 22nd September

Concept

The title of Music Generation’s National Celebration is We are Music Generation!

We want to celebrate the children and young people across Ireland who love making, playing and experiencing music, because they are the heart of Music Generation!

Within the logo, young artists may be inspired by:

  • Something special or what you love about your local Music Generation programme.
  • What you love about music.
  • What music means to you.
  • Celebrating a friend, Musician Educator, teacher or family member that brings music to your life.
  • Any other creative ideas you may have.

The winning entry will:

  • See their logo featured as our national celebration branding at exciting events across the country.
  • Have their logo showcased on national digital, print and media campaigns
  • Participate in a bespoke masterclass with a professional artist.
  • Receive a €100 voucher for art supplies.

Runner up awards of €50 art supplies vouchers will be awarded at the judging panel’s discretion.


All submissions will be reviewed by an independent panel and may be selected for visual display at national events.

The competition is open to all children and young people. We welcome entries from across the island of Ireland. All entrants must be aged 18 or under on the 14th September 2023.

All entrants under 18 must have the permission of a parent/guardian to enter this competition and must confirm this on the online submission form.

All entries must be submitted online via www.musicgeneration.ie by the closing date midday 22nd September 2023. Late entries will not be accepted. If your entry is received after this date, it will not be eligible for the competition. Be sure to get your artwork in early and give yourself lots of time to fill out the online form and upload your photos/video.

Each entrant must complete and submit an online entry form. Entrants must upload one image of their artwork and one verification photo of themselves with their artwork. Where possible, please keep the original copy of your artwork for verification purposes.

Each entrant must provide a short artist statement with their submission, detailing what music/Music Generation means to them and what inspired their logo. This can be typed out in 300 words or less or you might prefer to tell us about your artwork in a video. Record this on a mobile phone and upload along with your online submission form and photos. (max 1 –2 min videos please)


-Video formats accepted: .mp4 .mov
-Photo formats accepted: Max 5 photos in .png .jpeg or .pdf formats
-Max upload of 1GB per entry in total.

The artwork submitted must be original and created entirely by the entrant. Any copied, traced, plagiarised or A.I. generated work will be disqualified. Your original artwork must not have been entered into any other art competitions.

The entrant confirms that any person depicted in the entry has granted permission to be portrayed as shown.

If your group’s submission was facilitated or assisted by an adult, educator or professional artist, then please be sure to tell us about it and clearly explain what their involvement was. Remember to list all the names of the young artists in your group on your submission form.

All submissions will be reviewed by an independent judging panel of creative practitioners.

The artwork must not feature imagery that the entrant does not own the rights to, including but not limited to Disney, Pixar, Marvel or other known characters, trademarks, brands or intellectual property.

Awards will include art materials, vouchers and art experiences for the overall competition winner, runner up and highly commended entries.
