Music Generation St Patrick's Weekend Events

Over 100 young musicians from Music Generation will descend on St. Patrick's Festival Quarter 2023 to share their dynamic take on Irish Traditional Music today. Join Music Generation Clare, Music Generation Laois and Music Generation Tipperary and experience their high-energy sets live in Collins Barracks on March 17th and 18th.

Music Generation
are delighted to collaborate with Ireland’s National Festival again to create such a memorable live performance opportunity for our young participants.

Rehearsals have been in full swing for weeks, in preparation for the big performance. We tipped down to Tipperary to visit the young musicians and heard what they are most looking forward to this St Patrick’s Day. Watch the video here.

The Music Generation Harp Collective, comprised of talented young harpists from Waterford, Laois, Louth, and Mayo, have teamed up to put on an amazing performance featuring 50 young performers as part of Waterford's St. Patrick's Festival.

Catch live performances from Music Generation Westmeath's Mullingar Music Jammers on Market Square and Music Generation Kilkenny's young trad musicians by the Tower, St. Canice's Cathedral.

There are tons of exciting events happening throughout the St. Patrick's Festival weekend across the Music Generation network.

Music Generation Tipperary
Trad Ensemble will perform selected repertoire that reflects the journey of the young ensemble to date. The programme selection and arrangement has been led by the young musicians themselves highlighting the central role they have in the development of Tipperary’s musical future.

Music Generation Laois Trad Orchestra are thrilled to perform at St. Patrick’s Festival Quarter's mainstage for the second time. Their dynamic programme will include a selection of tunes, arranged by Siobhan Buckley, including tunes composed by Damien O’Kane, Liz Carroll, Blackwater Céilí Band, Michael Rooney and much more.

Discover the extraordinary sonic beauty of the Irish Concertina Orchestra weaving melodies through harmony progressions, with bass lines and rhythm concreting beautiful compositions that are challenging and curious to the ear. Under the guidance of musical director Dr. Tim Collins with Sinead Mulqueen, Cillian King and Conor O’Loughlin, the Irish Concertina Orchestra are becoming renowned for performing new and sonically exciting pieces to much critical acclaim.


With 24 of the best young concertina players from Co. Clare and surrounding counties, they work with unique commissioned compositions as well as their very own composition.
