Calling All Music Makers: Celebrate World Children’s Day 2024 through Music!
On World Children’s Day on November 20th we’re inviting young musicians to share their favourite musical moment from We are Music Generation 2024!
This May Bank Holiday weekend will see the return of Tuned In!, a Music Generation Sligo Masterclass and Performance Programme at The Model, in partnership with Sligo International Chamber Music Festival. This youth strand of the festival will offer a short, intensive chamber music experience for young musicians and their tutors, specially-curated by Professor James Cavanagh.
This is an opportunity for young players to develop ensemble playing within the classical genre, engaging with high level artists. Tuned In! will combine masterclasses and performances as participants deepen their understanding of music and improve their playing within the nurturing environment of Sligo International Chamber Music Festival. Masterclasses will be led by members of the acclaimed Vogler Quartet and other festival performers, while ensemble activities will be directed by Professor James Cavanagh. The weekend also brings young musicians into the audience to experience live performances of an international standard at one of Ireland's leading chamber music events.
Expressions of interest for Tuned In! are now being accepted. Please download, complete and email the form to MusicGenerationSligo@msletb.ie before Friday 23 February 2018. Please note submission of this form does not guarantee a place on the weekend.
Established in 2000 at St Columba’s Church, Drumcliffe, Sligo International Chamber Music Festival has become one of Ireland’s leading international chamber music festivals and is now a highlight in the annual calendar of music events. The full 2018 programme will be announced here.
Tuned In! is funded by Music Generation as a National Partnership Project, in association with Music Generation Sligo.
Sligo International Chamber Music Festival is produced by Sligo County Council Arts Office and Music Generation Sligo, funded by Sligo County Council, the Arts Council and Music Generation Sligo.
