Hold on tight, Cruinniú na nÓg is almost here!

Music Generation programmes across Ireland are getting ready for a wonderfully creative day of free music workshops, events and performances on Saturday 15th June. Try some trad, sing, DJ or rap – the choice is yours! There’s something for everyone.

Hear Music Generation Kilkenny’s Song Collective EP live with TikTok star Robert Grace and explore their interactive VR headset experience. If you’re from The Kingdom, prepare to sing and dance at a Mini Music Movers workshop in Killarney with Music Generation Kerry.

Are you ready to try something new? We have just the thing! ‘Songs of Seedlings’ is a Climate Change Opera Workshop hosted by Music Generation Wexford. After their world premiere of Youth Opera ‘Seedlings’ we are thrilled that these inspiring songs will be shared with the world once again. See more here.

Out West, Music Generation Galway County will host an engaging series of music workshops. They are designed especially for children and young people with additional needs and disabilities. Discover more here.

Think you can stop what they do? I doubt it!” - The Kabin Crew and Lisdoonvarna Crew’s recent viral hit ‘The Spark’ has captured the imaginations of millions across the globe. Event: 'Inspire Sessions' with Music Generation Carlow.

Where:
Coláiste Aindriú, Bagnelstown

Prepare to be inspired! Music Generation Carlow will host the ‘Inspire Sessions’ for Cruinniú na nÓg! This is a series of free workshops for beginners and intermediate musicians aged 9-18 years to learn more about a variety of musical instruments. Sessions will be facilitated by a team of renowned Irish Trad musicians, Colm Phelan (Bodhrán), Claire Sherry (Banjo, Mandolin), Mick MacAuley (Accordion, Guitar), Aidan O'Donnell (Fiddle). That sure sounds inspiring!

Event: Summer Showcase with Music Generation Cavan / Monaghan

Where: The Íontas Theatre, Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan

Join us at the Summer Showcase! Young musicians, bands and ensembles will take to the stage for their Summer Showcase on the 15th June. You’ll see performances from Cavan Community Choir, Junior and Senior Harp Ensembles, Tradoodle Bigband and lots more.

Event: Music Workshops with Music Generation Clare

Ennis, Co. Clare

Young people aged 7–18 years are invited to take part in a variety of music workshops with Music Generation Clare. Try some Sean Nós and trad music with Séamus and Caoimhe Uí Fhlatharta. Let the lyrics flow in Niall McCabe’s Contemporary Songwriting workshop or play Percussion with Davie Ryan of Notify.

Event: Fionn Mac Ceol - A Night of Circus and Music with Music Generation Cork City

Where:
Circus Factory Cork, Ballintemple, Co. Cork

Be transported back in time, through circus and sound, to the legend of Fionn Mac Ceol! Join the young performers from Circus Factory Cork and Music Generation Cork City for this unique exploration of the legend of Fionn Mac Chumhall. Audiences will be treated to a special performance and will be invited to try out some circus skills with Circus Disco.

Event: Rock the Block with Music Generation Cork City

The Kabin Studio, Knocknaheeny

Sparks will be flying in Knocknaheeny for Cruinniú na nÓg! Rock the Block is a youth music festival for all ages featuring rap, hip hop, trad performances and workshops.

Young rappers from The Kabin Studio will perform their recent viral-hit ‘The Spark’ along with more of their epic tracks. It all kicks off from 11am. You can also expect food, face painting and lots of family fun until 6pm.

Rock the Block is presented by The Kabin Studio, Rhyme Island, GMCBeats & Music Generation Cork City in partnership with Creative Tradition, Cork City Council & Creative Ireland (Cruinniú na nÓg).

Where: Nuns Island Theatre, Galway City.

Join Music Generation Galway County for a wonderful series of music workshops designed especially for children and young people with additional needs and disabilities. These workshops will take place in Oranmore, Tuam, and Headford as part of Cruinniú na nÓg. It's a fantastic opportunity to explore the joy of music in a supportive and inclusive environment. Workshops will be led by a team of experienced Musician Educators.

Come sing and dance with Musician Educator Sorcha for Cruinniú na nÓg! Music Generation Kerry will host music sessions for 4-5 year olds and 6-7 year olds in KDYS Killarney.

Where: Naas Library, Co Kildare

Garageland Galaxyz Youth Music Festival will take place in fours locations across Ireland. Eight youth bands from Music Generation Kildare will perform at the Naas event. You can expect music workshops, special guests and lots more on the day!

Where: Foroige Drum Youth Centre

Young musicians with Music Generation Kilkenny have teamed up with TikTok star Robert Grace to create a brand-new track. The EP release will take place on Cruinniú na nÓg at Drum Youth Centre. Explore their VR headset digital exhibition and experience a fusion of music and visual art created by the Foroige Drum’s Young Artists with The Song Collective EP!

Calling all budding drummers! Music Generation Kilkenny will host drumming workshops across three local libraries in Kilkenny. They are a mix of intergenerational and children's workshops.

Event: Laois Le Chéile 2024 with Music Generation Laois
Where:
Laois Music Centre, Portlaoise

Music Generation Laois, Laois Integration Network and Laois Partnership, presents a festival of creativity at Laois Music Centre. Open to all communities in Laois, old and new, the festival will feature live music, music workshops, craft workshops, Open Mic sessions, and food trucks.

Highlights include a debut of original songs written with young people living in direct provision in Portlaoise and Abbeyleix – Kids Boom Rap Song Launch. The event will also feature performances by the Belles Ukrainian Children’s Choir.

Young bands, singer/songwriters, rappers and producers will take to the stage at the Belltable for Cruinniú na nÓg. Young musicians are invited to perform at the Open Mic with Music Generation Limerick City’s very own live house band. Young musicians will also be encouraged to perform their original music!

The Gaggle is a podcast for young people by young people from West Limerick. The Gaggle highlights youth empowerment and voice to actively and consciously in their own development and the development of their community. Event: Hey, What’s Going On?!? Pop-up Sing-along with Music Generation Mayo
Where: Linenhall Arts Centre, Castlebar, Co. Mayo

Step into the spotlight at Music Generation Mayo's Pop-Up Protest Sing-Along! Young people 13- 18 years are invited to explore protest songs and resistance movements through the ages. From anthems of equality to chants of solidarity, children will uncover the power of music to inspire action and ignite social change.

Sligo Central Library, Sligo Town.

Sligo Central Library will be buzzing on Saturday 15th June with a full day of free creative events and workshops. Hear Music Generation Sligo’s very own Ukulele group ‘Springboard’, perform live at 2:30pm. From 3pm, audiences can enjoy a very special performance by the winner of the Jam@TheSquare competition, Jennifer Walsh.

Event: Kippure Community Choir with Music Generation Wicklow

Tearmann Community Gardens, Baltinglass, Co. Wicklow

Music Generation Wicklow is proud to present a performance by Kippure Community Choir for Baltinglass Cruinniú na nÓg.

The choir rehearse weekly in Kippure Direct Provision Centre, under the guidance of Joan Dempsey. The young choir are excited to perform a selection of popular songs including “Wonder” and “Make Your Own Kind of Music.” This will be an upbeat and energetic performance you won’t want to miss!

Event: Beyond the Trees Performance & Art Exhibition with Music Generation Wicklow

Where: Rathdrum Development Association (RDA) Hall, Rathdrum, Co. Wicklow

Music Generation Wicklow is delighted to showcase the creative work of children from St Saviours, Rathdrum Boys’ and Our Lady’s Girls’ schools in Rathdrum, Co. Wicklow. The exhibit highlights their creative responses to the wonderful landscapes around Rathdrum. The young artists were supported by artist Louise Shearer and will perform a set of songs composed by Tom Lane.
