Sweden meets Ireland meets Canada! An exciting weekend of musical exchange coming up in Blessington this weekend.
Local musicians Rachel Conlan, Alan Reid, Blessington Comhaltas Cois Locha and Club Cheol na Lochanna along with about 40 visiting young musicians from Sweden will get together for a weekend of sharing, learning and playing music in a super collaboration organised locally by the local musicians and parents.
The visiting group from Sweden have a fairly comprehensive schedule arriving next Wednesday, visiting Clare on Thursday and Friday night sees 3 Music Generation Wicklow musicians/tutors alongside a Swedish tutor bringing the group through a variety of tunes and styles which they will then perform for each other.
On Saturday afternoon a Canadian Band touring with Music Network -The April Verch Band will provide two workshops in fiddle styles and guitar techniques touching on such styles as Cape Breton and Blue Grass. The young musicians and some of their tutors will then finish up with a performances locally in schools and the Tramway Theatre so the boards will surely be tapping in Blessington!
