12 SubSounds participants hailing from Music Generation Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown and Music Generation South Dublin celebrated the launch of their debut 5 track EP on Culture Night 2021. The Summer 2021 Subsounds participants wrote, produced, recorded and performed their original tracks which were created over a short few week of intense musical collaboration.
Through making music the young people engaged in collaboration, team-work, problem-solving, composing, recording, producing, editing, filming, presenting and performing.
We caught up with SubSounds musicians Jay Trieu and Jessica Dunne who describe their experience making music
The EP premier was recording at the dlr Lexlcon with support from Alternative Entertainmentsand Southpaw Pictures and captures the success of the SubSounds programme and its participants following intensive work, creativity, and collaboration. The launch is still available to view below.
About SubSounds
Sub Sounds is a youth music collective that is managed and delivered by a partnership between Alternative Entertainments and CONTACT Studio. It is funded by Music Generation South Dublin. CONTACT Studio is a South Dublin County Arts Office initiative.
The programme takes place in RUA RED South Dublin Arts Centre, Tallaght, and it is open to young throughout South County Dublin.
Sub Sounds aims to empower young people to develop their creativity, musicianship and composition skills through mentorship and collaboration.
