This Sunday, 6 March the Royal Irish Academy of Music (RIAM) and Music Generation Offaly / Westmeath will host the Regional Wind Festival in Athlone Institute of Technology from 9.30am.
The Festival is open to brass, wind and percussion based ensembles, with more than five performers. Over the course of the day, ensembles will receive open analysis and advice on their prepared repertoire, instrument demos by Festival tutors, sectional workshops with RIAM staff and massed band workshop advice including posture, breathing, preparation and performance.
This excellent opportunity for wind players throughout Ireland is available at a cost of just €5 (administration fee) per performer in the Festival.
Ensembles that wish to take part should prepare an appropriate repertoire in advance, not exceeding 7 minutes performing time. All participating ensembles will receive informal and constructive feedback immediately after their performance. Performers will also avail of tuition and masterclasses with RIAM specialists in wind, brass, percussion and ensemble direction.
During the afternoon, the Festival will feature a massed ensemble workshop with band repertoire provided on the day.
