Music Generation Wicklow’s Recorder Orchestra

Recorder orchestra brochure
Music Generation Wicklow's new Recorder Orchestra has a mission - to give the many creative and musical children in the area the opportunity to learn how to play music as a team.

The Recorder Orchestra will place large emphasis on enjoyment through learning and will be accessible and fun for students – they will experience a great sense of achievement while working as a team. This year the Recorder Orchestra will explore lots of different kinds of music and perform in concerts. Next year, they aim to add different sizes of recorders to the group.

The Recorder Orchestra will take place in two locations – Greystones and Tinahely. There will be one rehearsal per week for students, lasting one hour. There will be two rehearsal centres in Greystones, St. Laurences National School and St. Patricks National School and one in Tinahely in Kilcommon National School. Children from other schools are very welcome to join in too.

Parents will be asked to form a rota in each school and to attend at least one rehearsal per term in accordance with Child Protection Policies. A rota will be assigned and attendance in mandatory.

An annual registration fee of €50 will apply (payable in two instalments) and children must provide their own instrument an Aulos 205A Recorder (yellow bag). This registration fee will cover costs for music, tee shirts and any other costs that may occur.
