Music Generation Limerick perform with the Irish Chamber Orchestra!

UCH CONCERT 2014
The Irish Chamber Orchestra’s Sing Out with Strings programme celebrates its 6th birthday, in true party style with a very special Limerick City of Culture 2014 Gala Concert at University Concert Hall, Limerick on Wednesday 11 June @ 12 noon. The Rhythms of Life celebrates Limerick City of Culture 2014 as 300 children citywide take to the stage to perform their very own music about their city.

Children from Galvone National School, Southill Junior School, St. Mary’s National School and St. Enda’s Community School come together and perform with members of the Irish Chamber Orchestra. A very special line-up of Limerick’s shining bright lights include the very talented musical diva, Jean McGlynn, one of Limerick’s top bands,Leading Armies, alongside Music Generation Limerick City artists, Godknows Jonas and Ciara Meade.

Inspired by the sights and sounds of Limerick City, the children have created brand new musical works. Working with facilitators from the Irish Chamber Orchestra and Music Generation, pupils as young as four have considered how the best of Limerick can be captured through music. They have explored the city’s history, motto, landmarks and the threads that knit them all together. With the help of the Irish Chamber Orchestra and special guests, children take their audience on an imaginative musical journey around the city, travelling from People’s Park to the Carnival. The music ranges from comedy to high drama, and includes a salute to Vivaldi’s Four Seasons featuring the Sing Out Orchestra and the Redemptorist Centre of Music.

Join the Irish Chamber Orchestra and the Sing Out with Strings team for The Rhythms of Life supported by Limerick City of Culture 2014 on Wednesday 11 June @ 12 noon at University Concert Hall, Limerick.
