The members of Rusangano Family, who work as musicians and tutors at Music Generation Clare and Music Generation Limerick City, have won the RTÉ Choice Music Prize for their debut album ‘Let The Dead Bury The Dead’. The group was among ten Irish acts nominated for the prize which was awarded at an event last night, Thursday 9 March, in Vicar Street, Dublin.
Having accepted the award, the group were interviewed by Sinead Crowley for RTÉ News and radio, where they spoke passionately about their work with the Music Generation partnerships in their local areas.
Zimbabwean MC God Knows, from Clare explained how “There’s so many amazing, talented people across Limerick and Clare, and we’ve met them, and they have made us as good as we are because we’re scared that they’re right behind us.”
MuRli, from Togo and now living in Limerick, said that the goal of the group is “to inspire every kid out there who has a dream.” His message was to “Go for it! It’s possible. It’s out there. We’re here to inspire you… Rusangano Family – we’re here for the people.”
