Music Generation Clare has announced details of its annual fundraiser concert in association with glór on Saturday 10 December 2016. The concert will feature a fantastic line up of musicians including Dónal Lunny, Pádraig Rynne and Tara Breen, as well as young musicians participating in Music Generation Clare programmes.
Composer and producer Dónal Lunny plays guitar and bouzouki. He is the figurehead of Irish traditional music and many know him for having spearheaded its revival over the last 30 years. Since the 1970s Dónal has founded legendary Irish bands Planxty, The Bothy Band, Moving Hearts, Coolfin and recently Mozaik.
Pádraig Rynne is a virtuoso musician, prolific composer and is regarded as the finest concertina player in Irish music today. He is recognised for his re-freshing explorations into the Irish tradition.
Tara Breen is a highly talented multi-instrumentalist from County Clare who has achieved All-Ireland titles on fiddle in every age category over the years. Tara’s live work started as an original member of Ciorras. She then went on to join the Galician piper Carlos Núñez and in 2014 she joined The Chieftains.
Opening this special concert will be a multi-genre showcase of Music Generation Clare programme participants, from across the county.
This event at glór comes under the Music Generation Clare Leath/Leath Go See! Scheme, which supports young people and the music sector by encouraging attendance at music events. Music Generation Clare is working with venues and festivals to provide tickets discounted by 50% to enable young people under the age of 18 to attend live music performances, (bookings must be accompanied by one adult).
