Music Generation Carlow is delighted to present Curioso – a brand new Early Years Music Festival taking place over three days from 11 – 13 March 2016.
The programme will feature three distinct presentations: The Magic Adventure, Bonnie the Bear and a work-in-progress of The Far Field.
Funded through the Music Generation/Arts Council Partnership Programme, The Magic Adventure is an exciting and interactive performance installation made of white fabric and coloured lights. Developed in the UK by Charlotte Arculus and making its debut in Carlow as part of Curioso, this unforgettable experience features voice play, music making, funniness, exploration and discovery.

In Bonnie the Bear a wonderment of fun will be revealed through musical play, song, movement, drama, sensory experiences and lots of imagination! Participants will be invited to become adventurous bear hunters on a journey full of surprises. Clara Hutchinson, Sorcha Russell and Áine McQuaid facilitate this engaging and interactive experience for young adventurers, funded by Music Generation Carlow.

Thomas Johnson’s The Far Field will be showcased as a work-in-progress performance for an invited audience of musicians and childcare professionals. Scratch performances allow artists to explore ideas in front of an audience and receive valuable feedback in order to develop the next stages in the work and their practice. The Far Field is specially commissioned by Scoil Ceoil na Bhotha, Co. Monaghan, with support from the Arts Council’s Traditional Arts Commissions Award.

The Music Generation/Arts Council Partnership enables children and young people across the Music Education Partnerships to engage actively with high-calibre professional musicians from all genres of music. The Arts Council has invested €450,000 in the programme (2013-16) which is now facilitating an ambitious range of residencies, collaborative performances and composition projects around the country.
