On Sunday June 8 in the Dunamaise Arts Centre, over 65 children will take to the stage as part of the Music Generation Laois/ Laois Partnership Company Summer Concert, featuring young singers and musicians from the Glee Clubs programme and School of Rock and Pop in the county.
Glee Clubs are now established in Mountmellick, Portlaoise and Mountrath, giving children in these areas access to singing and dance classes at an affordable rate of €2 weekly.
The concert on June 8 will showcase their work throughout the year, with a vibrant programme of current pop classics, and musical theatre songs. The Glee Club programme is delivered by Music Generation Laois and Laois Partnership Company. The Music Generation Laois School of Rock and Pop was officially launched in September 2013 by Jack L, and students attend weekly lessons in guitar, keyboard and drums, as well as being part of a School of Rock and Pop Big Band.
Music Generation Laois will deliver a range of Summer Camps in July, including a ‘School of Rock and Pop Summer Camp’ in the Dunamaise Arts Centre. See www.musicgenerationlaois.ie
