Amy O'Callaghan and Caoimhe Barry began playing and performing with Music Generation in Cork City when they were only just beginning secondary school.
Now, they are studying music at University College Cork and are among the first Music Generation alumni in the country to take on the role of 'Apprentice Tutor'.
Alongside their own mentors (including Music Generation Cork City partners at the Barrack Street Band and the Mahon Community Concert Band), Amy and Caoimhe are now guiding the next generation of young brass players.
They also head up the New Orleans style youth brass ensemble, Rebel Brass, which was set up originally with Music Generation Cork City mentors Shauna McCullough, Clodagh Kearney and Stephen Manning and is now a self-sustaining band that is managed by its members with input and guidance from friends and family.
This short documentary, filmed in Waterford long before lock-down during Brass Off 2019, captures a little of their story. Music Generation could not be more proud of what they, and the team supporting them, have achieved.
