Join Music Generation Sligo for music, coffee and pastries as they present a glimpse of their hugely popular Big Bang & Fleadh Fusion events at The Bakeshop & Lyons Café at 5pm for Culture Night 2014, Friday 19th September.
Big Bang is a cosmic performance of new music by Brian Irvine & 5 Young Sligo Composers - Ferdia Durkin, Niamh Feeney, Ciara Murphy, Alice Purcell, Matthew Rooney. Last November their compositions were played by a small army of performers, 120 children & young people from Sligo Community Youth Choir, Grange Post Primary School & Ursuline College together with an 80 young musicians from Sligo Academy of Music Sinfonietta Orchestra. Music Generation Sligo is proud to have produced Fleadh Fusion, a very successful opening concert for Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann at the Hawk’s Well Theatre on Sunday 10th August 2014 with Dervish, West Ocean String Quartet, Sligo Academy of Music Orchestra and young traditional musicians. The concert was programmed by expert composer Neil Martin and a 60-strong ensemble performed to a full house in a concert which was the final part of a three month Music Generation / Arts Council Partnership Programme.
