Róisín Egan is a professional singer and music educator born in Sligo. She graduated with a BMus Hons Degree specialising in Performance from the DIT Conservatoire of Music in 2007. Róisín has been a vocal teacher for over ten years and in 2012 co-established Sligo’s leading early years music school ‘Singskool’ to teach, nurture and develop children’s innate musicality and musical talent from six months to six years old. Róisín’s vocal talent was discovered at a young age when she received a scholarship to study Vocal Performance and Musicianship at the Royal Irish Academy of Music in Dublin aged 12. In 2000 she was awarded ‘Sligo’s Young Musician of the Future’ by the International Choral Festival and RTÉ.
She has been a music educator with Music Generation in Sligo since 2011 and has developed and taught programmes as Lead Special Educational Needs Tutor for more than six years. She has also Co-Authored a resource methodology book for postgraduate teachers of children with Special Educational Needs: ‘Con Tutti Music and Autism a practical method for developing a music programme for children with Autism’. Róisín has spent many years directing and conducting various award-winning choirs and choral groups and, as a professional singer, has performed for President Michael D. Higgins and with Opera Ireland.
